    Crescendo Orchestra for Youth

    Prelude Class for Beginners: Tuesday's 4-5pm This class is geared for 3rd grade and older. Students will learn the fundamentals of string playing and choose an instrument (violin, viola, cello, or bass) how to hold the bow, play pizzicato (plucking the strings), and with the bow (arco), learn to read music, develop their ear, learn to play together, and participate in the concert with the other string orchestras on Monday, April 29th, 2024 In addition to registering here for this class, students are required to enroll and participate in weekly lessons ($20/lesson) through Crescendo at https://cyo.mymusicstaff.com/Sept-April-New-Studen... Instruments are available for rent upon request and first come basis. Prices are $10/mo for violins/violas, $30/mo for cellos, free rental for basses but they stay on the property of Crescendo. Scholarships are available for both the Prelude class, lessons and instrument rental waivers for students that qualify for Free and Reduced lunches. Call Tifanie at Community Ed to get the discounted rate for the class. Call Julie at 218-349-7870 for a scholarship for the lessons. Students will need to register for this class again in January to participate for the remainder of the year. Intermezzo Class for Intermediate Players: Monday's 5:30-6:30pm Class is geared for students who have played at least one year and know how to hold the bow & instrument, have learned some simple songs by ear or by reading, can identify notes on the staff, know their notes in first position on the fingerboard, can play a D major scale, and want to play with a group of string players. Students will continue learning in the Essential Elements for Strings lesson book, the Suzuki book, and pieces for the group to play together. All practices will be held at the ** New location ** @ Crescendo Center 214 E Howard Street, Hibbing There will be no class on: Jan 15, 22; Feb 19 & April 1st There will be a concert on Monday, April 29th, 2024 @ the Hibbing High School Auditorium 7pm Students 7th - 12th grade should register through the Activities Office for the Winter / Spring session.
  • Classroom Drivers Training

    Hibbing Community Education offers a 30-hour Classroom Driver's training course for those 14-1/2 years of age and older. Class will be held June 3rd-7th & June 10th - 14th, 2024 (M-F) @ The Early Learning Center. Please use door #16 Registration will open Wednesday, April 24th @ 8am. Pre-registration is required. For this session there are 2 classes to choose from: 8-11am OR 11:15-2:15pm ** Exception ** Parent night TBD ** Please complete the attached form (link provided) at the end of the registration process and return to Community Ed. **
