  • Classroom Drivers Training

    Hibbing Community Education offers a 30-hour Classroom Driver's training course for those 14-1/2 years of age and older. Class will be held July 7th - 18th 2025 (M-F) @ The Early Learning Center. Please use door #16, 2100 12th Ave East, Hibbing Registration will open Thursday, May 1st @ 8am. Pre-registration is required. For this session there are 2 classes to choose from: 8-11am OR 11:15-2:15pm ** Exception ** Parent night TBD ** Please complete the attached form (link provided) at the end of the registration process and return to Community Ed. **
  • College For Kids

    College for Kids is a one week summer program for ages 4 - 14 taking place at Minnesota North Hibbing campus in July. This program will include hands-on classes in performing arts, visual arts, science, technology, recreation, crafts, and other fun activities. Students will be able to select and attend three classes at 9, 10, and 11 A.M. Class brochures will be made available online and registration will open June 16 at 6AM. August 4- 8 will be a week you will not want to miss! Sections will be $35 each. No refunds issued after July 1st. Camp T-Shirts will be made available for $15. You must have 3 classes at each time for a complete registration. Classes with a - 1 are 9:00 classes. Classes with a - 2 are 10:00 classes. Classes with a - 3 are 11:00 classes. When you check out, you should have a class number 1, 2, and 3 in your cart for ALL time slots! Orion Martial Arts Each individual student has their own experience that takes personal perseverance in reaching goals. Tang Soo Do provides better health for the body and mind. It instills the skills to complete goals, understand self-awareness and self control, and become more confident. Disc Golf Disc golf is a sport for all ages! Disc golf offers excellent competition, but also individual growth mentally and physically. Students will be taught rules and etiquette, about equipment, basics, putting, backhand and sidearm driving, and scoring. Discs will be provided, but feel free to bring your own equipment. College for Kids Soccer Camp Risk free class to learn the basics of soccer! Fundamentals and fun are what this class is all about! Get up and moving with a mini-soccer camp with College for Kids this summer! College for Kids Basketball Camp Dribble up and join us for the fundamentals of basketball. Campers will be taught basic techniques of shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding, and defense, all while having fun! Packed with competitions and ending with an awards ceremony, this will be a basketball opportunity you don't want to miss! Dreamcatcher Workshop Students will develop craft making skills creating their own dreamcatcher, as well as the history and significance of the dreamcatcher. Students will gain cultural knowledge and learn the Legend Story and Ojibwe Language surrounding their dreamcatcher. Native American Beadwork Native American Beadwork recommended for grades 4 and up. During this class we will learn the importance of patience, and indigenous lessons, along with a beading project of your choice. Beadwork takes determination but the outcome is rewarding. A Week With Roald Dahl Spend the week exploring the magical worlds that Dahl has created over the years. Each day you will focus on a new book, complete with book inspired activities, crafts, writing, and more! From Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, to Matilda, to James and the Giant Peach. Let's Dance! Join me for an exciting week of dance, exploring your artistic expression through rhythm and movement! We will delve into a few different styles (i.e., jazz, modern, hip hop), dancing to fun musical selections that are current yet kid-friendly. Beginners and those experienced in dance are welcome! Please come dressed in movement-friendly clothing. Hands-On Science! Come and learn all about science and apply it to everyday life! We'll discover the science of motion, temperature, states of matter, and so much more! Fun, hands-on experiments for each day! Space Camp 3, 2, 1 …Blast Off! Learn about space while building your own rocket! Students will construct a working model of a rocket from ordinary materials. We will also try some fun spacey activities in the planetarium dome. An experience that is out of this world! Rockets will be launched on the last day of class, weather permitting. Games of Strategy and Chance Ever wondered the secret behind winning a game of checkers? Have you always wanted to learn how to play chess? This class is the class for you! Together we will explore classic board games, card games, and explore strategies to these games. College for Kids Volleyball Camp Volleyball skills, drills, and techniques will highlight this College for Kids class. Learn the basics or improve upon skills you already have; learn alongside friends, help teach friends, and make friends. This class will be a bumping good time! Art is FUN! Do you love creating art? This class is for you! Each day will bring a new and exciting craft for you to make and take home. From cloud foam to anti-gracity galaxy jars to painting, you're bound to have a good time making long-lasting arts and crafts. Lego Robotics Are you up for a challenge? Learn how to code a robot to move around the competition mat and to manipulate various obstacles. You will need to build, rethink, and rebuild time and time again. This is a fun, mini session of our regular season competition. Kids will also get to compete against one another to complete the most obstacles the fastest! Minnesota Animals Students will get the opportunity to learn facts about a variety of animals that call Minnesota home including beaver, otter, coyote, fox, bear, etc. This course will focus on anatomy, track identification, what each species eats, where they live and other characteristics that make each animal unique or similar. Hands on activities include getting to handle and observe real animal pelts, bones and teeth. Extra! Extra! Read All About It! Spend the week being a newspaper reporter - learn how to investigate and write news stories. At the end of the class, students will publish a newspaper. Outdoor Games Enjoy this laid-back class learning how to play all sorts of outdoor games from Bags, to Ladder Ball, and many more! Pottery Intro to ceramic's hand building. Students will explore slab and coil construction, making simple forms. Helping fire kiln, studio work and glazing will be done. Students will each have projects to take home at the end. No-Sew Sew Did you know you can make projects that look like they were sewn by using common tools most homes have? Well come see how to make cute, useful items without a sewing machine! See you there! Photography Class *Bring your own device - iPad, phone, etc.* Jump into the world of photography and learn the art behind the beauty! Led by local photographer Emily Law, this is a class you won't want to miss! Cheerleading A fun class will teach the basics of cheerleading, sportsmanship, and how to work together as a team. During this class you’ll learn two cheers and a short dance and you’ll preform at the end of the week. You’ll also have an opportunity to decorate a shirt and a bow to wear during the end of week performance. Intro to ASL Have you ever wanted to learn another language? Now is the perfect time to step right into learning American Sign Language. Find the fun of a new language while learning the basics of the language. Pickleball Have fun with friends learning the basics of the fastest growing sport. Pickleball combines tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. The focus is strategy and patience, not just speed. Jewelry Making Jewelry making is a rewarding and creative craft that allows you to design and create beautiful wearable pieces. Create neckles, bracelets, anklets, and hair jewelry with a variety of materials. Preschool & Kindergarten Session Students will get the chance to explore art, science and nature! Each day students will be able to investigate new art mediums, observe and conduct science experiments and learn new ways to use nature in their work and play!
  • Firearm Safety

    This class is geared for students that are 11 years of age or older. The Minnesota DNR requires attendance at all sessions, successful completion of a written exam and field training to include firing at least 15 rounds of live .22 caliber ammunition. Upon successful completion of the class, you will receive the Firearms Safety Certification. ** Parents are required to accompany their student to the first hour class session.** Parents are required to pick up their student on time. If parents are late to pick up their student, that student will be asked to leave the class and repeat the whole class the next time it’s offered. July 28, 29, 30 & 31st 4-7pm @ The Maple Hill Hall (Community Center) with the field day set up for Saturday, August 2nd. Time TBD @ the Hibbing Rifle Range The instructors will hand out information during class regarding field day testing. Children 14 years of age and older may complete the online class and then schedule a field day.     "No Small Parts!" Pop-up theater for Kids! with Megan Reynolds, Hibbing High School Drama Director & Shelly Hanson, Minnesota North College Instructor August 18-22, 2025 @ Lincoln Auditorium Experience the thrill of theater! Want to learn to pretend you're someone else and perform on the stage? Here's your chance! Spend a week this summer at the Lincoln Middle School Auditorium and learn how to put on a play, with YOU as the star actor! Taught by Shelly Hanson Minnesota North College and HHS Drama Director Megan Reynolds, assisted by HHS theater students, this workshop for young theater lovers will have opportunities for kids to learn beginning performance skills and the basics of play-making. Grades 1-3 will play theater games, sing songs, and create a short performance. Grades 4-7 will work with a script and put on a short play in just 5 days! (Grades 4-7 should bring a lunch with them to the theater each day during our break.) The week will culminate with a presentation by both sessions on Friday, August 22nd at 2pm in the Lincoln Auditorium 9-10am for students entering grades 1st-3rd 10:30-2pm for students entering grades 4th - 7th Scholarships are available thru Hibbing Community Education.
