    Crescendo Orchestra for Youth

    Intermezzo Class for Intermediate Youth Players: Monday's 5:30-6:30pm Class is geared for students grades 4th through 8th who have played at least one year and know how to hold the bow & instrument, have learned some simple songs by ear or by reading, can identify notes on the staff, know their notes in first position on the fingerboard, have learned through page 27 in Essential Elements Book 1, can play a D major scale, and have been recommended by their string teacher. Students will continue learning in the Essential Elements for Strings lesson book, the Suzuki book, and pieces for the group to play together. We will be getting ready to perform in the concert on Monday, December 2nd at 7pm. In addition to registering here for this class, students are also required to enroll in weekly lessons ($20/lesson with a range in price up to $35/lesson for master teacher) through Crescendo at https://cyo.mymusicstaff.com Students will need to register for this class again in January to participate for the remainder of the year. If the student takes private lessons from a teacher not affiliated with the Crescendo program you need to discuss this with the director and get permission to register for register without Crescendo lessons. All practices will be held at the Crescendo Studio located 214 E Howard Street, Hibbing, MN Students 9th - 12th grade should register through the Adult High School / Community Orchestra class for the Fall session. Weekly rehearsals on Mondays starting September 9th through November 18th with a Concert on December 2nd at the Hibbing High School Auditorium at 7pm.
  • Math Masters

    The Math Masters mathematics competition program challenges 4th, 5th and 6th grade students to use critical thinking and problem-solving skills in mathematics. Students compete as individuals and on teams in 6—8 rounds of competition, with their academic effort and achievement recognized with plaques, medallions and ribbons. The first meeting will be the first week of October and will run through early March or April. Students will meet at their grade level lunch / recess periods once a week. Meeting days are scheduled for Wednesday's, but a subject to change. 4th & 5th grade will meet is Mrs. Hanson's room - #120 6th grade will meet is Mrs. Renaud's room - #211 The cost includes registration, materials, and a t-shirt! Transportation to regional competition will also be included (site & date TBD).
