About Youth Sports

Our Youth Sports programs offer fun, inclusive, and positive athletic experiences for children of all skill levels. Our programs focus on building strong fundamentals and fostering a love for the game, while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal development.

Participants can take part in a variety of sports including football, swimming & diving, volleyball, wrestling, and cheerleading. Each program is designed to support athletic growth in a supportive environment that encourages confidence, physical fitness, and a lifelong appreciation for active living.

  • Karate & Sparring

    Welcome to the National Karate Schools! Get in shape Increase flexibility Build Confidence Instill self-discipline and respect All classes are taught by blackbelts. Uniforms can be purchased through the Karate School. Classes are available for youth and adults (Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced) Minimum age to register is 8 years old. Classes will be held at the new Early Learning Center (attached to the Washington Elementary School) in the gym. Please use the main entrance (door #16) Fall session begins Tuesday, September 2nd for Intermediate & Advanced classes. Beginners Karate begins Tuesday, September 9th. The Fall session for all levels run through Thursday, November 20th. Beginner 6:15-7pm Intermediate 7-8pm Advanced 8-9pm ** No class October 16th ** _________________________________________ Sparring Classes: Requirements - Must be in karate and at least a Gold belt to Spar Equipment required: Head protection, face mask, hand & foot protection, shin & elbow protection, cup & supporter, mouth guard and chest guard. Classes will be held at the new Early Learning Center (attached to the Washington Elementary School) in the gym. Please use Door 16. Fall session begins Friday, September 5th - Thursday, November 20th ** No class October 17 & November 14th ** Sparring will be held at Washington Elementary on the following dates: Sept 12th & October 24th We ask that you please remove your shoes before entering the gym or bring a clean pair during the winter months. It helps to preserve our gym flooring. Your cooperation is appreciated!
  • Elementary Flag & Tackle Football

    Pre-K to 3rd Grade Flag Football (Open to all area schools - private & public) This program is open to boys and girls from across the Iron Range. It is a 6 week youth football program led by Head Coach Matt Anderson. This program is designed for young athletes who want to develop their football skills in a fun, positive environment. Season August 18th - September 23rd, 2025 Kids will need tennis shoes or rubber cleats. Footballs, flags and mouth guards will be provided. August - October 2025 - Exact dates TBD, Games are Tuesday's & Thursday's Join our travel tackle football team, led by Head Coach Matt Anderson, competing against surrounding schools as a part of the Grand Rapids Pony League. This league is designed for young athletes who want to develop their football skills and bring their game to the next level. Some travel for games is required. Tackle equipment is supplied Not Provided, but required: Football cleats and fitted mouthguard Optional Gear: Football gloves Registration Groups: 4th grade practices @ Lincoln Middle School Fields; download the Team Reach app and enter code HibFB4th to get practice and game information Boys & Girls 5th & 6th Grade Tackle Football (Open to Hibbing / Chisholm public & private schools) Open to both boys and girls entering 5th-6th grade! This league is designed for young athletes who want to develop their football skills and bring their game to the next level. Some travel for games is required. August - October 2025 - Exact dates TBD, Practices Mon - Fri & Games are held on Saturday's Tackle equipment is supplied Not Provided, but required: Football cleats and fitted mouthguard Optional Gear: Football gloves Practices @ Lincoln Middle School Fields & Home Games @ Cheever Field; download the Team Reach app and enter code HibFB5-6 to get practice and game information The varsity football players will be involved with teaching skills and technique to players, and will also be involved with coaching and refereeing games. Scholarships are available for those in need ages Pre-k to 6th grade. It is the philosophy or Hibbing Youth Football that no child should be left out of participating in football due to financial issues. Program Coordinator, coaches & paid referees needed. All coaches will be required to become USA Football certified to ensure safety. Please indicate your interest when registering.
