Summer Youth Improv Lab: Thinking on Your Feet!
Unleash your child's imagination, build performance confidence, and have a blast this summer! This high-energy, 5-day workshop is designed specifically for kids aged 8 to 16 who want to explore the exciting world of unscripted theater. Over daily 3-hour sessions (11:00 AM – 2:00 PM), young actors will discover that there are no mistakes in improv—only happy accidents and new creative directions! Through active physical theater games, group storytelling, and comedic character building, students will learn to trust their creative instincts and collaborate like true team players. The week culminates in an exciting, live Graduation Showcase where the kids will perform their favorite short-form comedy games completely unscripted, driven entirely by ideas from the audience!
What Students Will Learn: The Power of "Yes, And": Master the golden rule of improv by accepting a scene partner's ideas and building upon them creatively. Physical Theatre & Mime: Use body language, posture, and spatial awareness to build invisible worlds and "space objects" out of thin air. Instant Character Development: Dive into silly voices, unique physical quirks, and strong points of view to establish unique comedic characters instantly. Ensemble Teamwork & Listening: Train in radical, active listening to stay fully present, share the spotlight, and make stage partners look great. Creative kids aged 8–16 (Perfect for complete beginners and seasoned young actors alike!)
